Keem Bay, Achill, sheep #68

Keem Bay, Achill, sheep #68

€275.00

6 years ago I moved to the west of Ireland from Dublin. One of the visual similarities between the city and the country is the use of spray paint, by graffiti artists in the city and by sheep farmers in the country to identify their own sheep.

I like to think of the farmers as graffiti artists each with their own ‘tag’ and I have been documenting the different tags on flocks around the west of Ireland for a series of paintings. these paintings reference ownership (farmer/graffiti artist), subconscious, uninhibited painting and chance.

Each painting is made with Agricultural animal marking spray paint and is limited to a single edition, 1/1, for each flock. Fabriano, cotton paper, deckled edge on 2 sides is used for its edge which is similar to that of a woolly sheep. Signed, numbered and named after the precise location of the sheep so you can go and find your flock!

This is an ongoing series.
Size is 500 x 700 mm / 19.5 x 27.5 inches
Paintings are sent unframed in a postal tube.
